2017's year-in-reviews have been filled with praise for NewAm's artists, with theJasper Quartet's Unbound making the New York Times "Best Classical Music Recordings of 2017," Roomful of Teeth appearing in the Alex Ross's New Yorker roundup of notable 2017 performances, and nearly our entire 2017 catalogue appearing on Best-Of lists by critics from around the world.

Amir ElSaffar's Not Two was a runaway hit, appearing on a dozen lists so far, and inspiring critics such as Seattle's Second Inversion, which wrote, "In a year choked with disunity in nearly every part of our lives, trumpeter Amir ElSaffar’s jazzy pan-global album Not Two offers a welcome musical melting of borders…his humanism coupled with the skill of his collaborators results in an album that pulses with mystical jazz spells, thrills with august horns, and reminds us that music is egalitarian."

In 2018, we'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary with a variety of exciting releases and initiatives, including a joint anniversary celebration with (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York, the return of the Apples & Olives Festival in Zürich, a groundbreaking new curatorial partnership, and albums from new and returning artists including Jace Clayton, the Aizuri String Quartet, John Hollenbeck, Invisible Anatomy, The Hands Free, and many more.

New Amsterdam is a non-profit 501(c)(3) record label and all revenues from our album sales go directly to our artists.
