On October 19th at Francis Kite Club, composer, cellist, and multimedia artist Zeelie Brown will perform their latest album, “A Breath of Thunder,” which compiles three years of work, thinking about homelessness, trauma, and redemption, and mourns the loss of communal ways of life and farming in the Alabama small town where Zeelie comes from, while hopefully sounding a future of Black joy where no one has to war for their basic needs. Brown participated in New Amsterdam’s Composer Lab in 2024. No one will be turned away from this event for lack of funds.
