Aaron Roche
AARON ROCHE is a composer, performer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer.
His music effortlessly and unassumingly weaves together threads of songcraft, contemporary composition, American folk traditions, lo-fi drone, and avant garde noise rock, all filtered through Aaron’s highly original vision that is both sweepingly ambitious and refreshingly unpretentious.
Though an accomplished guitarist, Aaron first began playing music in his father’s brass ensembles and was obsessed with the Eastman Wind Symphony as a child, recording his own trumpet music at night onto a dictaphone.
His music has most recently appeared on compilations and releases alongside Helado Negro, Sufjan Stevens, Lucky Dragons, DM STITH, Dirty Beaches, LAKE, and Ela Orleans.
Recent projects include collaborative work with Shahzad Ismaily, R. Stevie Moore, Chris Schlarb and Psychic Temple (with Mike Watt and Mick Rossi), Stephan Stephensen and Hogni Eglisson (Gus Gus), Doug Wieselman, Greg Fox (Guardian Alien), Amps For Christ, Shannon Fields (Stars Like Fleas), and visual artist Brian Scott Campbell.
This year, having toured America and Canada playing guitar for R. Stevie Moore, Roche has played supporting shows for Julianna Barwick, Kria Brekkan, Dope Body, Ariel Pink, Half-Handed Cloud, and Flux Quartet.
Roche is currently writing and recording new music in Iceland, the middle of nowhere Florida, and at home in Brooklyn.
